How we communicate with families
Home School Communication & Newsletters
Each pupil has a home/school planner. This is a valuable system in maintaining daily communication between home and school. In addition the school publishes a Daleslink newsletter every half term and each half term you will also receive a class newsletter outlining the learning themes and activities. Our Facebook page is also a great way of finding out current news at school.
Parents/Carers contacting or visiting the Dales School
Teaching starts at 9:00am and continues until 3:00pm every day. Office staff have been instructed not to transfer phone calls to the classroom during lessons times so that teaching time isn’t interrupted. If you wish to speak to a member of classroom staff we would ask for your support in not calling between these times – absences can be reported to either Heidi, Rachael or Cheryl in the office – they may be able to help you with your other queries too or they can take a message and ask the relevant member of staff to call you back. Absences can be reported using the Scholarpack Parent App.
If your enquiry is urgent every effort will be made to deal with your query as soon as possible. All parents and carers need to sign in at the office when visiting the school and wait for a member of staff to collect you – this is a requirement for Safeguarding Children.
Reporting
Pupils receive annual reports in the summer term.
Mapping and Assessing Personalised Progress – MAPP
MAPP Personalised Learning Intentions (PLI’s) are set by class staff and multi-disciplinary team 3 times a year for pupils. These are assessed and reviewed 3 times a year in October, February and June. Learning intentions and outcomes are shared with parents and stakeholders who are encouraged to contribute to the assessment. In Sixth Form MAPP PLI’s are shared in student planners to enable students to take ownership of their learning.
